SHOWCASE-II:
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
On the weekend of 6 & 7 of April, 2024, we had not one but 2 showcases!! Inspired by classic films, Be in the Sky and friends created 10 performances in pole, aerials and movement. The event was presented as the BITS awards, with the glamorous hosts Katie and Diego introducing each performance with a quirky nomination. As we do like things topsy-turvy, raffle prizes were given away as part of the show.

Our first BITS AWARDS was for 'Sweetest Entrepeneur' with nominees Juliet Binoche in Chocolat, the witch in Hanzl and Gretl, and Willy Wonka, because if anyone can climb the greasy pole of business, you can bet your last golden ticket it’s going to be her…

The nominees for the second BITS AWARD of ‘Grooviest Time Hopper’ were: Doc, from Back to the Future, Dr Who , and in pole position Austin Powers.

The next nominations in the category of 'Most Twisted Love Story’ were: 'Titanic’, because there was clearly enough room for Jack on that bit of wood, 'Beauty and the Beast', and finally, 'The Joker and Harley Quinn', because if you really want to see something twisted, check out some of these moves…

The nominees for the fourth category ‘Most Seductive dance scene from the 80’s’ were 'Flashdance', 'Perfect' and 'Dirty Dancing'.

Moving on to our fifth category, the nominees for ‘Most Earth Shattering Special Effects’ are 'Deep Impact', 'Don’t Look Up', and last but not least, 'Armegeddon'. The world will never be the same...

In the category of ‘Most Combustible Bird’, the nominees were 'The Phoenix' in Harry Potter, 'Angry Birds', and the 'Mockingjay’, in the Hunger Games.

Our next category of ‘Best Swinger’, the nominees are 'Tarzan', 'Indiana Jones' and and finally, the 'Lion King'.

And now for our next category, the nominees for ‘Most Deadly Sister Act’ were The Twins in 'The Shining', Elsa and Anna in 'Frozen' and Velma and Veronica in 'Chicago!'.

The final category in the BITS awards 2024 was ‘Most Real Ideological Struggle’. The nominees were 'Harry Potter', 'The Matrix' and 'Star Wars'.
